"What does digital marketing cost in India?" is the question every business asks first - and the one agencies answer least clearly. This guide gives realistic ranges so you can budget sensibly and spot a bad deal early.
What drives the cost
Five things decide the number: scope of work, competition in your market, the quality of your current assets, how fast you need results, and who does the work. A single-city service business and an e-commerce brand competing nationally should not have similar budgets.
Website design and build
For small businesses in India, focused mobile-first websites typically start around INR 15,000 to 60,000 depending on page count, copy, gallery, and integrations. Template builds can be cheaper; custom design, e-commerce or complex integrations cost more. Our own starting scopes are INR 3,500 basic, INR 6,000 advanced, and INR 12,500 bot-enabled.
SEO work
SEO retainers in India commonly range from INR 15,000 to 75,000 per month depending on competition, content volume and technical depth. Be wary of very cheap SEO: it is usually either thin work or risky tactics. Ask what is included - technical fixes, content, local SEO, reporting - before comparing prices.
Google Ads and Meta Ads management
Management fees are usually a percentage of ad spend (commonly 10-20%) or a fixed monthly fee. Your ad spend is separate from the management fee, and it should scale with results - not with promises. Start with a testable budget, measure cost per enquiry, then scale what works.
Content and social media
Content and social retainers vary widely with output volume and production quality. The honest question is not "how many posts" but "what is this content supposed to do". A smaller, sharper content plan that supports search and sales usually beats a high-volume posting schedule.
How to budget without overspending
Start with the foundation: a website that converts, tracking that works, and a Google Business Profile that is complete. Add SEO next if customers search for what you sell. Add paid ads when you can measure cost per enquiry reliably. Increase spend only when the numbers justify it.
Cheapest is rarely the best value
The cheapest quote often hides thin work, missing measurement, or tactics you will pay to undo later. Compare scope and evidence, not just price. A slightly higher fee with clear reporting usually costs less over a year than a cheap retainer that produces nothing verifiable.
